Major price decreases for asparagus

Major price decreases for asparagus have been seen this week with prices down from 26.80 to 16.80/ kg

North Island

Kiwifruit, peaches, plums and honey dew melons prices rose by 1.50 with rock melon rising 2.20.

Decreases of over 1.00 were seen in royal gala apples, green grapes and green pears.

Red grapes and raspberry punnets fell by 2.00.

Most significant falls were passionfruit by more than 6.00 to 9.60 and limes by 13.00 to 9.80.

Round beans rose 1.30 and rises of 2.50 were seen in green courgettes.

Varieties of tomato including red cherry tubs and large vine ripened rose by 2.50.

Orange and green capsicum prices fell between 1.00 and 2.00.

Falls of 1.50 were seen in celery, yellow courgette, butternut and beauregard kumera.

Larger rises of 3.00 were seen in snow beans and kumera, gold and red varieties.

Notable falls of 8.00 have seen spinach decrease to 3.90 and asparagus to 15.90.

South Island

Most fruit and vegetable pricing stayed stable this week but a rise was seen in both rock and honey dew melon pricing of 1.50.

Passionfruit had a significant fall of nearly 7.00 taking the kilo price to 12.20.

Yellow and red capsicums and shallots rose by 1.50 and green beans by 2.20.

Asparagus fell by 10.00 to 16.80.
