Good buying and now in season

Avocado – we will be on new season fruit in the next few weeks. This will be a good year to have it on your menu as prices will be good (unlike last year!)

Beans – Aussie rounds offer good buying this week

Pumpkin – all varieties well priced, buttercup nearly finished but supermarket squash ready to go

Kiwifruit – both green and gold offer good value

Mandarin – local Satsuma are readily available and well priced

Tamarillo – large deep coloured fruit readily available

Tomatoes – both Aussie and local continue to offer unusually good value for this time of year

Cavalo nero- now in season

Jerusalem artichoke – reasonable volumes available now

Increasing in price or going out of season

Cucumber – continue to move up in price

Iceberg lettuce – the cold snap over the weekend has had an immediate effect for Auckland with all growers in Pukekohe being hit with frost & hail. Price already on the rise and unfortunately quality is bound to drop

Potatoes – Large washed and Agria are set to rise sharply as the supply has tightened considerably

Herbs – Tarragon is finished. Basil volume is diminishing but remains available, orders may be cut back slightly. Sage and Dill are extremely short and may be unavailable some days.
