Nectarines were up 38.6 percent, cauliflower up 49.7%and tomatoes up 13.5%. Soft drinks were down 2% and beef steak down 2.6%.

Higher prices were recorded for fruit and vegetables (up 7.4%; dry products, and confectionery (up 0.9%). The meat, fish and poultry subgroup fell 0.4 percent.

Food prices increased overall 1.1 percent in March 2006.The most significant individual upward contributions came from higher prices for apples (up 26.7 percent).
