Vegetable shortages and supply problems

Snow, rain… what more could affect our already high fruit and veg prices? Crops in Ohakune such as parsnips, swedes, carrots, potatoes and yams are now short as growers cant even dig their crops out. On the critically short list is mesclun, baby spinach, rocket, chillies, limes and even some herbs. Good quality vegetables are in very short supply and prices have lifted for broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, fancy lettuces, spinach, spring onions and rhubarb. Local tomato prices have increased significantly and Aussie tomatoes along with Australian beans, courgettes, capsicum, rockmelons, honeydews and watermelon are also very expensive and in short supply due to the colder climate they are experiencing.
